Experiencing "some" stress is a normal part of life. Short term stress can actually be good for us and may keep us motivated and energized. It's when we start getting into the chronic, long term stress that can be damaging, both physically and emotionally.
We all experience short term stress and many of us will inevitably encounter long term stress as well. Much of our stress and anxiety is self induced through our own thought patterns and we may not immediately know the exact cause of the stress, but typically, in time, we can usually narrow it down.
We will never rid ourselves completely of stress, but the good news is, there are many things we can do and several options available to help relieve it.
I'll be diving deeper into why some of us are more prone to stress than others, and what you can do about it, in an upcoming blog.
I'd like to share with you a few activities that help me in managing my stress, and perhaps you could get some ideas on better managing your own, if that is what you feel you need.
Most of the stress in my life is brought on by my "overthinking mind." My husband and I like to refer to it as my "monkey mind." What works well in managing this stress and calming my mind and spirit are the following activities:
- Daily Meditation
- Yoga
- Exercise (5 days per week) or walking in nature with my dogs
- Working with crystals
Since stress is so individualized and manifested from different thought patterns, there isn't a "one-size-fits-all" solution that will work for everyone. Experiment with what you are drawn to and what feels right for you.
